my little spot on the net, CLANBEAR NEWFOUNDLANDS. newfies are my greatest love, i just adore them, they are one
of the greatest breed of dog you could own.people who have never owned a newfie, have never known the true love that this
speical breed gives. there is only one thing better than a newfie and thats 2 or 3, or4. when i bought my first newfie which
is about 16yrs ago. i phoned most of the top breeders of that time, not one of them offered me any advice on what questions
to ask, al they said was sorry we have no puppies, then oneday i saw an ad in our local paper, newfoundlands for sale. so
i phoned and inquired abut them,(i was living in the north east at this time) so off i went to see the puppies. no one had
told me there were back street breeders of newfies i thought exspensive dog they must do the best by their dogs.
how nieve can any body be, well once i had seen
the puppies my heart ruled my head,so i bought a beautiful landseer girl called josie but my beautiful little girl had to
be put to sleep at 5mths. i have'nt the words to explain how i felt i was devastated, and i could only think to myself, if
only one of those so called " top breeders" had give me a little advice, like what questions to ask or what problems
were in the breed. i would not have gone through the heart ache ( putting it mildly ) that i did.6mths later i did get another
newfie and a good one at that i bought her from a lady called Lindsay May of the TRINITYFAIR kennel she was so helpful and
i got a beautiful black girl and we called her ebony lindsay and i became very good friends so much so i moved up to cumbria
to be near lindsay.she taught so much about newfies, i mean i was brought up with dogs all my life but a newfie is special.
in 16yrs i have had 4 litters of newfies two litters were born at lindsay's house and the last two were born in my own home,out
of each litter i kept a bitch. which you can read their stories through their own pages. but when anyone phones to ask if
i have any puppies, i don't just say no!! i ask have they ever owned a newfie before, do they know of the problems that are
in the breed how to train, grooming and also i tell them to gather as much information on the breed as they can. before taking
one on. they change your life so much, so i try my best to steer them ion the right road.i know buyers can be impatient and
sometimes only questions that interests them is the price and availability but they should take their time in finding a good
breeder, you could be saving yourself a lot of heart ache. i would hate for someone to go through what i did!!! what the buyer
has to understand is unfortunately some breeders may be good salesmen but they may not be giving honest answers, some might
think this is just to much trouble but it could save a lot of trips to the vets in the future. well i hope you enjoy your
